| The Amazing Ida Belle Eoff Hudson written by R. G. Hudson Ida Belle Eoff was born January 15, 1872 at Union, Ar (Boone County). Her parents were John Jackson Eoff and Cynthia Caroline Nicholas Eoff. Ida Belle died on September 9, 1967 in Harrison, Ar and is buried in the Maplewood Cemetary in Harrison, Ar. Ida Belle Eoff Hudson was known to be able to stop bleeding on animal or man. She did not even have to be present. A phone call describing the location and type of injury was all that was necessary. Many individuals, both local and from across the country, would call Ida Belle for her assistance. My great uncle, Wilson Taylor, once had nasal surgery at Mayo Brother's Clinic. Following the surgery, Wilson was experiencing excessive bleeding which the doctors at the clinic could not stop. Wilson called Ida Belle and she immediately stopped the bleeding. My Cousin, Carl Earl Hudson, told me of an occasion when he ran into a clothes line and tore his face from mouth to his ear. His mother was unable to stop the bleeding and called Ida Belle. Within a very short time the bleeding had stopped. My dad, Richard Ralph Hudson, while visiting Ida Belle's home, witnessed on many occasions where his grandmother would receive calls asking for her assistance. Upon receiving such a call, Ida Belle would take her Bible into the bedroom, reappearing shortly to ask the caller if the bleeding had stopped. On one occasion Wesley Wood was teasing Ida Belle about her ability to stop bleeding and made her angry. Shortly afterwards Wesley Wood butched some hogs in the front yard. When Wesley Wood slit the hog's throats they did not bleed, causing the meat to ruin. Wesley told Ida Belle, "I do not believe in that stuff and don't you ever do it again." When asked about her ability or gift, Ida Belle responded,"it comes from the Old Testament in the Bible.". When asked if she could tell anyone how she stopped the bleeding she stated, "I can tell one individual, being a male, and not a family member." Ida Bele indicated that she intended to pass this information on to Noah Dearing, but as far as anyone knows, she never did. |
